Old Cooperage Cabernet Franc 2022
$35.00 / bottle
The Old Cooperage celebrates the historic relationship between Château Tanunda and A.P. Johns Coopers. Since establishing the Château Tanunda Cooperage in 1889, four generations of the John family have worked in coopering in the Barossa and still provide barrels to our winery. Each year we select a high-quality parcel of an interesting Barossa grape variety as our ‘Old Cooperage’.
For this limited-release wine of 500 dozen, we selected two hand-picked parcels of Cabernet Franc from Moculta in the Eden Valley.
TASTING NOTES
Vibrant aromas of dark cherry, capsicum and blueberry with a subtle peppery perfume. Medium-bodied on the pallet, the finish is long with fine-grained tannins holding up a classic Cabernet Franc structure.

Beautifully fragrant and inviting, the bouquet shows dark plum, sweet raspberry, floral, almond and subtle spice aromas. The palate is equally satisfying with excellent weight and silky mouthfeel, wonderfully supported by fine tannins and juicy acidity, making it fabulously drinkable. At its best: now to 2037.

Deep ruby colour with a vibrant lift of blood plums and bay leaf aromatics. Palate sits medium to full with dark berry fruit entwined with dried blood and leafy savoury notes. Good length and finishes nicely drying.
