The Château Single Vineyard ‘Bethanian’ Shiraz 2021

$40.00 / bottle

The Château Single Vineyard ‘Bethanian’ Shiraz 2021

From our estate vineyard on the sandy loam soils on Bethany creek. Settled by German immigrants in the 1840s, Bethany, or ‘Bethanian’ as the locals called it is the oldest settlement in the Barossa. Lifted aromas of blackberry, blueberry and black pepper are supported by spicy, dark berry fruits on the palate.

The extensive finish is framed by elegant, fine-grained tannins from maturation in a combination of new and seasoned American and French oak.

This is a wine that exhibits a distinctive subregional character from this area near the village of Bethany. It’s savoury with an earthy dark plummy fruit character. Smooth and seamlessly structured with firm though fine tannins and ample oak to balance and support. Nice mix of liqueured fruit and dark chocolate add to the layered complexity on the palate.

Shiraz from a single vineyard on the ridge at Bethany in the Barossa Valley.
This is a grunty, grainy shiraz with sweet red- and black-berried fruit flavours rolling satisfyingly through the mouth. Malt, vanilla and cedarwood flavours are here too, though for the most part they’re tucked neatly into the fruit, as are gentle corn and smoked meat notes. This has turned out pretty well.

Aaron Brasher, The Real Review

Chunky dark fruit, spice and oak aromas. The palate mirrors the aromas, all plum, mulberry, sweet oak and pudding spice. Opulent, mouth-filling and chewy.
