Terroirs of the Barossa ‘Ebenezer District’ Shiraz 2018

RRP: $60.00

Shiraz wines from this region are typically characterised by lifted aromas of lavender and spice. The palate is full of red fruits, leather, cedar and fine, talc-like tannins.

To ensure the unique character of this sub-region is exemplified in the wine, small open fermenters and our basket press were employed to gently extract the wine.

Aging in the finest quality oak and selection of the truest barrels has created a wine that respects and expresses its place of origin.

The Barossa has some of the oldest and diverse soil types in the world, contributing to what makes our wines unique. Discover the differences between Barossa’s sub-regions. A journey through the Terroirs is a lesson in the Barossa’s versatility. This is the 10th vintage of this wine from the Ebenezer District, an area famous for its elegant and structured style of Shiraz.

Soil: Red Brown Earth on Calcerous Subsoil

Deep, dark red/purple colour with a gun-flinty, machine-oil overtone to the bouquet. There are black fruit aromas beneath. The palate is very complex and layered, with smoky, briary, black olive and graphite nuances that follow throughout the palate. The tannins are firm and compact and beautifully balanced to add structure and contribute to length. A ripping wine. Drinking Well: 2020–2035

Offering fabulous fruit purity and intensity, the sweetly expressed bouquet shows Black Doris plum, mixed berry compote, toasted spices and chocolatey oak characters, leading to a succulent palate that’s plush and graceful. It’s delectable and hugely appealing. At its best: now to 2038.
